MP3: Corvin Baez - "Me Perteneces"

Corvin Baez (aka Nacotheque’s Marcelo Cunning) unveils a new song following the nostalgic disco burner “El Dia Mas Triste de Mi Vida.” This time, he steps out of the electro-dance orbital, injecting the attractive sounds of the Caribbean into the mix. Celso Piña was the first thing that came to mind when I heard the first minute of “Me Perteneces,” it carries the Vallenato feel without making it traditional, in fact, it sounds more like Mexico’s adoptive forms of Vallenato and Cumbia. The song goes on into an extremely catchy Reggaeton where every hook is kicked at an intensifying rate. Its sexually-driven aesthetics are as kitsch as those tropical songs by Afrodita.
